Woman in Her 30s Imprisoned for Falsely Accusing Father of Rape, Legal Penalties Increased

A woman falsely accused her father, a supporter of her education abroad, of rape when he refused her financial demands, leading to her imprisonment.

Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court's Criminal Division 1, under Judge Choi Chi-bong, sentenced a woman in her 30s, known as A, to 10 months for defamation, business obstruction, and insult, per legal sources.

A 30-year-old woman was sentenced to prison for accusing her father, who financed her education, of rape over monetary disputes. [Image unrelated to article].

A was tried for defaming her father, B, by posting 11 times online between May and June last year, under the claim "I am a victim of familial sexual violence."

She falsely alleged ongoing sexual assault since age four by her father and domestic violence against her mother, claimed a settlement of 30 million won, and demanded severe punishment.

A revealed B's name and business details, reportedly causing him business difficulties.

A also accused B of remarrying C, a woman he supposedly had an affair with, posting about it six times.

In February 2021, A sued B for sexual assault damages at the Incheon District Court but lacked evidence of illegal conduct.

In court, A maintained her allegations were true, but the lawsuit's outcome led the court to reject her claims, citing no evidence of habitual assault by B.

The court deemed A's claims false, noting B's financial support during her education and linking her accusation to his refusal to fund a cafe venture.

The court stated, "She spread false information due to dissatisfaction over financial denial. The victims' reputations are irreparably harmed."

The court cited a high risk of reoffending, as A continued similar posts, and victims' demands for severe punishment influenced sentencing.
